How we provide social housing in the UK with our partners

Social housing in the UK is essential for individuals and families who have been let down by the housing market. At Alderley Group, we strongly believe in providing affordable, secure, and well-built properties that serve the local community - whether it’s social housing for rent or purchase.

If you’re looking to sell your land for redevelopment, you might be wondering how we will go about transforming your unwanted site into a beautiful home for such an affordable price. Here’s how we keep the prices of our developments down whilst retaining their quality:

What is social housing?

This type of housing is more unique and adaptable than private accommodation. Why? Because the rent can be tailored to local income levels! This makes all our housing developments much more accessible to residents.

As opposed to private properties, it’s often a more affordable solution for residents, offering more secure and longer-term tenancies, meaning they can set up a home for the long term rather than moving around.

How does Alderley Group provide social housing?

Social housing in the UK is provided through local councils or housing associations. At Alderley Group, we work in collaborative partnership with four housing associations - they are:

Torus

Torus is a growth and regeneration group committed to creating sustainable, stable, and thriving communities. They do this through support, investment, development, and regeneration.

With 40,000 homes and 74,000 customers, Torus is the biggest provider of affordable homes in the North West. They are a Homes England strategic partner with an ambitious £1bn investment programme.

We currently have three developments with Torus, which are all in Warrington.

Onward Homes

Onward Homes are a leading provider of quality, affordable homes for rent and sale in the North West. From Southport to Stockport, Onward owns and manages over 35,000 homes across the region.

They have also secured £152m from Homes England to deliver 3,208 affordable homes in the region.

We are currently working with Onward Homes on a 27-apartment development in the heart of Runcorn, offering much-needed social housing for rent and purchase.

Housing 21

Housing 21 is a leading not-for-profit provider of social housing in the UK. They operate in 240 local authority areas and manage around 20,000 retirement living and extra care properties for older people of modest means.

As the largest provider of extra care in England, with over 128 schemes and providing over 38,000 hours of social care each week, Housing 21 has an important role to play in improving the lives of older people.

We are working in partnership with Housing 21 on a 40-apartment plot in Huyton - it is set across three floors with a substantial communal area at the heart of the development for residents to relax and enjoy.

Together Housing

Together Housing manages over 36,000 properties and provides a comprehensive range of support services that affect over 40,000 peoples’ lives.

Homes England has granted £53 million to help them deliver 1,152 additional new homes.

Our ongoing dialogue with these associations enables us to constantly refine and deliver our projects within the time scale required.

Could youold land become an affordable family home?

We’re always looking to develop more social housing in the UK. No matter how big of a challenge it might seem to redevelop an old building or piece of land, we’ll try our hardest to make it happen.
